The UNIWORK partners participated in a 2-day Study Visit at The University of Sheffield (TUoS), where they had the opportunity to learn first-hand the ample support that this university provides to students to enhance their employability and enterprise skills, as well as the comprehensive assistance and funding available to student entrepreneurs.
The partners were welcomed by Professor Tony Ryan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Science at TUoS, and were given a number of presentations by the Careers Office, University of Sheffield Enterprise, Students Union, Sheffield Volunteering and 301 Skills Development Centre. The UNIWORK partners also visited some of the university key facilities and learnt about TUoS’ different strategies to provide an enriched educational experience in the curriculum as through extra-curricular activities.
The participants were very interested in all aspects of TUoS’ Careers Centre, in particular student training (concerning CVs, interview preparation and other useful skills to increase their employability), establishing and maintaining links with businesses, and the JobShop. They were also very interested in the support system that exists at the University of Sheffield Enterprise for start-ups as well as for the emphasis on developing enterprise skills as part of the degrees offered at TUoS.
